Imaginarium. www.imaginarium.es
is one of the largest specialised toy retail companies in the world today, with 340 shops in 28 countries, offering parents and children lots of fun and learning, with maximum quality and safety guarantees.
From the begining, they thought in two principal objetives: Firstly, for children to have more and better fun. Secondly, but just as important, to promote more comprehensive education and development for children.
For this reason, their business strategy has always been based on a series of social and development values that set them apart from our competitors, offering significant added value to their customers:
Quality - Safety - Educational value - Recreational value - No sexism - No war-themed products
Brief_
Develop three innovative multimedia terminals counting on children 3 to 8 y.o abilities and with features filtered by adult.
Process_
Taking in account the clients expectations and this hightly sensitive market penetration, we developed a range of three multimedia products for children from 3 to 8 y.o. The team was composed by three industrial designers (Sebastien Jennequin, Rafa Nualart and I) under the design direction of the Node design director: Alvaro Quintanilla. The interface design was made by a client’s provider . About the industrial design part, I was involved on the research & creativity phases.
- Research & Analysis: Understand children needs and abilities and their evolution between 0 to 8 y.o, understand the relationship the child has with others, empathic research for in depth-immersion.
- Creativity: Concept development based on child-key person communication leading to: an easy-to-use phone, a connected camera, a video conferencing/multimedia device, an online environment for device management. We delivered finishes mock up for user testing.
-
Development: Design and Engineering, interface integration. I wasn’t involve in this final phase.
